New Delhi: Sales of Khadi and Village Industries products reached a record Rs 1,87,105 crore in 2025-26, the highest-ever sales figure, the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) said on Tuesday.

Sales during the previous financial year FY25 stood at Rs 1,70,551.37 crore, and have surged multi-fold from Rs 31,154 crore in 2013-14.

The KVIC Chairman Manoj Kumar expressed confidence that sales of KVIC products will cross Rs 2.51 lakh crore in FY27.

He informed that while the production of Khadi and Village Industry products remained at Rs 26,109 crore in the financial year 2013-14, it surged nearly five-fold, registering a jump of 380 per cent, to reach Rs 1,25,296 crore in the financial year FY26.

While cumulative employment in activities related to Khadi and Village Industries stood at 1.30 crore in the year 2013-14, it has augmented to 2.04 crore in FY26, marking a growth of 56 per cent, thereby highlighting KVIC's vital role in generating rural livelihoods, KVIC stated.

Under the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), 66,494 new units were established during the financial year 2025-26 and for these units, a margin money subsidy of Rs 2,457 crore was disbursed against loans amounting to Rs 7,375 crore.

Through these units, employment opportunities were provided to 7,31,434 people, KVIC stated.

The KVIC will soon launch a revamped version of its e-commerce portal for 'Khadi India' products, Chairman Manoj Kumar said.

According to officials, the upgraded e-commerce portal powered by Shopify will offer a user interface aligned with global standards. It will have clearly defined categories for simplified product discovery and interactive elements, such as "Shop the Look", for users.

The platform, designed with a mobile-first approach, will have features such as improved product display through high-resolution images, along with an optimised checkout and payment experience, besides strengthened brand storytelling, showcasing Khadi as a contemporary lifestyle choice to appeal to younger, digitally savvy consumers while retaining its traditional values. "KVIC is now moving towards digital transformation in the new India. Very soon, in the coming days, we are going to launch Khadi's e-commerce portal, which will be modern and suit Gen Z. We are revamping our entire digital ecosystem," KVIC Chairman Kumar said.
