New Delhi: With the onset of the monsoon season and rising concerns over mosquito-borne diseases, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has intensified its public awareness campaign on dengue, chikungunya and malaria prevention.
Through posters, social media outreach and community messaging, the civic body has urged residents to adopt preventive measures and maintain cleanliness in and around their homes.
In an advisory issued on social media, NDMC highlighted a list of "dos and don'ts" aimed at preventing mosquito breeding. Residents have been advised to keep water tanks and containers properly covered, clean coolers regularly, and avoid stagnant water in flower pots, buckets and discarded items such as tyres and bottles. The civic body also stressed the importance of wearing full-sleeved clothes, using mosquito repellents and sleeping under mosquito nets during the fever season.
The advisory warned citizens against relying solely on platelet count during dengue treatment and cautioned against self-medication without consulting doctors. NDMC further appealed to citizens not to throw waste in open areas, as accumulated garbage and waterlogging become breeding grounds for mosquitoes during the rainy season.
Calling for collective participation, the civic body urged people to spread awareness within communities and cooperate in keeping neighbourhoods clean and hygienic. The campaign forms part of NDMC's broader efforts to curb seasonal outbreaks and strengthen public health preparedness across the national capital.
