New Delhi: Teachers and staff members of Dyal Singh Evening College have continued their protest against the proposal to rename the institution as "Banda Singh Bahadur College".
The protesters alleged that the decision was taken without consultation with the Staff Council, which they described as a violation of established procedures.
According to staff representatives, the proposal for renaming the college was introduced in December 2025. They claimed that neither approval nor formal discussion was held with the Staff Council before the matter was moved forward. A delegation of teachers and staff recently met the Chairman of the Governing Body and demanded that the proposal be withdrawn.
The protesters emphasised that the college represents the legacy of Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, whose contribution to education and public service continues to hold historical significance. The issue has triggered wider discussions among students and faculty over institutional identity and heritage.
