TMC accuses BSF of intimidating voters in border areas

Malda: Political tensions have intensified in the Baishnabnagar Assembly constituency ahead of the upcoming elections, following allegations by Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate Chandana Sarkar regarding the role of the Border Security Force (BSF).

Sarkar alleged that a section of BSF personnel is attempting to influence voters in border villages. "The BSF functions under the central government and there could be directives influencing their conduct. But creating fear and intimidating voters is not acceptable in a democratic process," she claimed.

According to the TMC candidate, such actions are causing concern among residents in the sensitive border areas and could impact voter turnout.

However, BJP leader Partha Sarathi Ghosh dismissed the allegations as politically motivated. "These claims are completely baseless. The ruling party candidate has failed to deliver development over the last five years and is now trying to mislead voters with such allegations," he said.

With both parties engaging in a war of words, the allegations have added a new dimension to the electoral battle in Baishnabnagar, making the role of central forces a key issue ahead of polling.
