Gujarat Local Body Election Result 2026: The counting of voters of the Gujarat local body elections has begun. The voting on April 26 saw 55.1 per cent voter turnout in municipal corporations, while the percentage for municipalities, district panchayats and taluka panchayats were recorded at 65.53 per cent, 66.64 per cent, and 67.26 per cent, respectively.
As per recent trends, the BJP is all set to sweep the local body polls in Gujarat. The party is leading in all municipalities, district and sub-district panchayats.

In the Amreli District Panchayat, which has 34 seats, the BJP secured a dominant victory with 31 seats, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) won two and Congress managed one seat, reported HT citing Gujarat Samachar.
In Amreli Taluka Panchayat (18 seats), the BJP won 16 seats, while AAP and Congress secured one seat each. In Babra Taluka Panchayat (18 seats), the BJP bagged 13 seats, AAP won three, and Congress secured one.
AAP performed strongly in Bagasara Taluka Panchayat (16 seats), winning 10 seats, while the BJP got six.
In Dhari Taluka Panchayat (16 seats), the BJP claimed nine seats, followed by AAP with five and Congress with two.
Jafrabad Taluka Panchayat (16 seats) saw the BJP winning 14 seats, while Congress secured the remaining two.
In Khambha Taluka Panchayat (16 seats), the BJP won 13 seats, AAP got three, and Congress secured one.
At Kunkavav-Wadiya Taluka Panchayat (16 seats), the BJP emerged victorious with 13 seats, while AAP won three. In Lathi Taluka Panchayat (16 seats), the BJP secured 10 seats, AAP won four, and Congress got two.
Congress led in Liliya Taluka Panchayat (16 seats), winning nine seats, while the BJP secured seven. In Rajula Taluka Panchayat (20 seats), the BJP won 15 seats, Congress secured four, and one seat went to an Independent candidate.

Congress candidate Arshad Jariwala has secured Ward 12 of Surat Municipal Corporation, reported HT. The party reportedly couldn't win a single seat in the 2021 local elections.

In the first-ever election for the newly formed Chikhda Taluka Panchayat in Narmada district, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) secured a sweeping victory by winning 15 of the 16 seats, according to Indian Express.
AAP Gujarat working president and Dediapada MLA Chaitar Vasava had campaigned extensively in Chikhda, which was carved out of his stronghold areas of Dediapada and Sagbara talukas in the district.

Congress has scored a major victory in Dabhoi Municipality, which was considered the BJP's stronghold. The party registered a decisive win in the civic body, long considered a stronghold of BJP MLA Shailesh Mehta, as per HT.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has reportedly registered a sweeping victory in the 2026 Gujarat local body elections, winning all 15 municipal corporations, reported HT. According to reports, the party secured more than 50 per cent of the seats in each corporation.

Out of the total 63 seats, comprising 28 Taluka Panchayat seats, seven District Panchayat seats, and 28 Municipal seats, BJP candidates were elected unopposed in 35 seats in Panchmahal district, reported Gujarat Samachar.

Out of the 1,044 seats across 15 municipal bodies in Gujarat, results for 493 seats have been declared so far, as per HT. According to data from the State Election Commission, the BJP is reportedly dominating with 467 seats. In comparison, the Congress has secured 22 seats, while four seats have gone to other candidates.

The BJP has won the Rajkot Municipal Corporation, securing 40 of 72 seats and outpacing both the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party.

The BJP has extended its lead in Gujarat's local body elections, securing seven of 15 municipal corporations including Nadiad, Mehsana, Vapi, Porbandar, Surendranagar, Navsari and Morbi. The party is additionally leading in the majority of seats in Surat, Ahmedabad and Rajkot.

In Surat, the party suffered a huge setback as it failed to open its tally in Surat Municipal Corporation.
As per recent trends, the BJP has won 23 of 120 seats in the Surat Municipal Corporation, while the Congress has secured 1. The ruling party is leading in 20 other seats in the municipal corporation.

The BJP has won four of 15 municipal corporations in Gujarat local body elections, securing victories in the newly formed corporations of Mehsana, Morbi, Nadiad and Vapi, while maintaining a majority across all civic bodies.
Congress failed to win a single seat in Mehsana, Morbi and Nadiad. Across 1,044 seats in 15 corporations, the BJP leads in 718 seats against Congress's 88.
The BJP panel has also secured victory in two wards of the Navsari Municipal Corporation. The ruling party has secured wards no one and nine in Navsari.

As per the latest trends, the Bharatiya Janata Party has taken a massive lead in Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, and Surat municipal corporations.
In Ahmedabad, the BJP is leading in 54 seats against the Congress's 11 seats. The Aam Aadmi Party has failed to open its account yet.
In Surat, the BJP is leading in 24 seats, the Congress is leading in three, and the Aam Aadmi Party is leading in one seat.
In Vadodara, the BJP has secured a lead of 76 seats against the Congress's five, and in Rajkot, the BJP has won 20 seats against the Congress's four.
In Anand district, the BJP has won 10 out of 36 seats in Petlad Municipality, 4 out of 25 in Kapadvanj Municipality, 7 out of 24 in Thasra Municipality, and two out of the 28 seats in Umreth Municipality so far, according to local media.
One seat each in Kapadvanj and Thasra have been won by independents.
In Ward No 1 of Bharuch Municipality, the Congress panel of four has won- candidates Imran Umarji Patel, Zuber Yakub Patel, Rabia Daud Patel and Sunita Suresh Raval, local media reported.
In Vadodara district, BJP has suffered early setback with Congress racing ahead in Ward 2 of Dabhoi Municipality with three seats. Congress candidates Pushpa Raval, Zaitun Mansuri and Kamlesh Patanwadiya win. BJP's Arif Makrani wins the fourth seat of Ward 2 . In Godhra Municipality of Panchmahal district of Central Gujarat, the BJP has won four out of 44 seats so far, Indian Express reported.
The outcome of these local polls would set the tone for next year's assembly elections. As many as 9,200 seats across 15 municipal corporations, 84 municipalities, 34 district panchayats, and 260 taluka panchayats went to the polls on Sunday.
Among the urban bodies, Gandhidham Municipal Corporation in Kutch district recorded the lowest voter turnout of 46.03 per cent, while Vapi in Valsad district recorded highest turnout at 72.29 per cent.
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation recorded a turnout of 51.81 per cent. Nine newly created municipal corporations, including Navsari, Anand, Nadiad, Mehsana, Porbandar, Gandhidham, Morbi, Vapi, and Surendranagar, voted in the polls too.
Who are the key players?
The key players include the ruling BJP, the opposition Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party. Apart from these, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) also contested on some seats. Former Gujarat-cadre IPS officer M L Ninama, ex-radio jockey Abha Desai, and former AAP MLA Bhupendra Bhayani are some key candidates in the fray.
