Rajinikanth's Hum Mein Shahenshah Koun, shot in 1989, remained unreleased for 37 years due to several setbacks. After nearly four decades, the long-delayed film is finally set for a theatrical release, bringing renewed attention to one of Hindi cinema's most unusual revival stories.

Originally titled Takrao, the film was produced by Raja Roy and features Shatrughan Sinha, Rajinikanth, Hema Malini, Anita Raaj, Prem Chopra, the late Jagdeep, and Amrish Puri. Despite completing principal photography, the project stalled when Raja Roy moved to London, leaving the film unfinished.

Over the years, multiple attempts were made to revive the film. Personal tragedies, including the loss of Raja Roy's son and later the passing of director Harmesh Malhotra, pushed the project further into uncertainty. These events kept the film in limbo for decades.

Eventually, Raja Roy returned to India determined to complete the film. Reflecting on its journey, he said the team never lost hope despite facing repeated personal and professional challenges. He expressed gratitude that the film has finally reached a stage where it can be released in cinemas.

Raja described the film as deeply personal, calling it his child after enduring years of grief, silence, and setbacks. He noted that the survival of the project itself feels like a victory after such a prolonged and emotional struggle.

To complete the film, the team used modern technology to enhance the viewing experience. AI tools were applied for visual smoothing, audio mastering, and bridging gaps in certain scenes, while preserving the original performances and narrative structure.

Associate producers Shabana and Aslam Mirza played a key role in restoring and finishing the film. Aslam Mirza shared that he spent nearly five years working on the revival, rejecting suggestions to release it without proper corrections out of respect for the film.

With the release finally confirmed, fans are eagerly waiting to experience the film's old-world charm. The project now stands as a rare example of persistence, bringing together an iconic cast on the big screen after decades of delay.
