We know that there are many Telugus in the United States but the latest reports indicate that 56% of all Indian visas issued by the US in 2023 are from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

That shows the increasing dominance of the Telugu community in America.

India became the largest sender of students to the United States in 2023-24, overtaking China. According to a report from the US Consulate General in Hyderabad. AP and Telangana are leading Indian states in sending students to the US, contributing 56% of the total. Out of this, 34% are from Telangana and 22% from Andhra Pradesh.

US Universities: India Finally Beats China

Out of the 3.3 lakh students approved to study in the US last year, 1.8 lakh are from AP and Telangana. To handle the growing number of applications, the US Consulate in Hyderabad has doubled its staff and plans to triple it by early 2025. Currently, they process 1,600 visas daily and are aiming to increase the capacity to 2500 very soon.

Interestingly, many American students are also choosing to study at Indian universities. In 2023, there was a 300% increase in American student enrollments in India compared to the previous year.
