The reconstruction of the Anna Canteens by the NDA government received a positive response from the people of Andhra Pradesh. Even though Anna Canteens ran successfully till 2019 after the TDP introduced them, Jagan Mohan Reddy shut them down when he came into power.

Now, they have been started once again.

As of now, Anna Canteens were only confined to the cities and towns. Now, the government announced its plans to expand the canteens to villages as well.

Meanwhile, certain regulations will be there for villages to qualify to get an Anna Canteen, which includes having a road of 40 feet and a significant population.

The Anna Canteen initiative was started by the TDP during its rule from 2014 to 2019 to provide quality food for just Rs. 5 to poor people who came from villages to cities for various purposes.

However, Jagan Mohan Reddy revoked all these canteens when he came to power. During the election campaign, the TDP promised to bring back Anna Canteens once it got back to power.
