The teaser for Alia Bhatt's upcoming film, Jigra, was released on Sunday, offering a glimpse into the lives of a brother-sister duo who endured a difficult childhood.

The plot centers around Alia's mission to break her brother out of prison, showing her physically preparing for the daring jailbreak.

It looks like Jigra draws inspiration from the Russell Crowe film The Next Three Days, which itself is a remake of the French film Pour Elle by Fred Cavaye.

In The Next Three Days, Crowe's character goes to extreme lengths to break his wife out of prison after she is wrongfully convicted of murder. In Jigra, the storyline is shifted to focus on a brother and sister, with Alia Bhatt playing the lead role, aiming to rescue her brother from prison.

The Next Three Days was recently remade in Bollywood by Mukesh Bhatt as Savi, starring Harshvardhan Rane and Divya Khosla Kumar. Unfortunately, Savi was a box office washout, earning less than 3 crore net collection.

Now, industry insiders suggest that Karan Johar's upcoming Jigra, featuring Alia Bhatt, is essentially a remake of the same story.

The key difference is that in Savi, Divya Khosla Kumar's character is determined to rescue her husband, while in Jigra, Alia Bhatt's character is on a mission to save her brother.

Directed by Vasan Bala, known for memorable films like Monica…O My Darling and Mard Ko Dard Nahin Hota, and produced by Karan Johar and Alia Bhatt, Jigra is scheduled for release on October 11.
