The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet has taken a key decision on the state budget timeline. Assembly sessions will begin on February 11, following a resolution approved during the Cabinet meeting held on Wednesday.
Governor Abdul Nazir will address the Assembly at 10 am on February 11. On February 12, members will move a formal resolution expressing thanks to the Governor for the address.
Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav will present the Andhra Pradesh budget for the 2026-27 financial year on February 14. On the same day, Agriculture Minister Atchannaidu and Irrigation Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu will present their respective budgets.
The budget is expected to push capital expenditure, with strong focus on infrastructure and central support for the Amaravati capital project. Funding for major irrigation initiatives such as the Polavaram-Nallamala Sagar link is also likely to be prioritised.
Urban development is expected to receive attention, particularly the Vizag Economic Region. Key sectors including finance, industry and energy are also likely to see targeted policy measures.
Welfare schemes launched earlier under Chief Minister Chandrababu and IT & HR Minister Lokesh, especially for farmers and school children, are expected to continue. The state will also seek pending central assistance under the AP State Reorganisation Act.
Since the state budget follows the Union Budget presented on February 1, adjustments may be made to align Andhra Pradesh's financial priorities with national allocations.
