As per the latest reports, work on the much publicised Google data center in Andhra Pradesh is set to begin in March, 2026. The foundation stone for the project is also expected to be laid during the same month.
Land acquisition has gathered pace at Tarluwada in Visakhapatnam. Most farmers in the region have reportedly agreed to part with their land, with compensation being offered at rates higher than the prevailing market value.
In addition to monetary compensation, the package includes job opportunities, shop space, and housing plots. These measures are aimed at providing long term security and livelihood options to the affected families.
Securing the Google data centre for Vizag is being seen as a major achievement for CM Chandrababu and his government. It has reinforced global confidence in Brand Chandrababu, Brand AP, and CBN's policy focused on speed of doing business.
Google, along with the Adani Group, began the land acquisition process in late 2025. The proposed 1 GW AI powered data center forms part of a larger plan to develop one of Asia's biggest data center complexes.
The land for the project spans Vizag and Anakapalli districts. Around 308 acres in Tarluwada, 120 acres in Adavivaram and Mudasarlova, and 160 acres in Rambilli are being acquired for the data center hub.
