Varun Dhawan's Baby John has turned out to be the biggest disaster with less than 25% recovery on its budget. The film, made on a budget of 160 crores, is struggling to collect even 35 crores in its lifetime.
It's a huge setback for Varun, who had hoped this film would push him into the league of big stars. The film is a remake of the Tamil movie Theri.

Now, another remake is releasing this month on January 31. Deva, starring Shahid Kapoor in the title role, is an adaptation of the 2013 Malayalam cult film Mumbai Police and is directed by Rosshan Andrrews, who also directed the original. Pooja Hegde plays the female lead.
The first look poster of the film is out, and it looks intense. Shahid channels a fierce persona, striking a pose reminiscent of Bachchan's legendary look from the cult classic Deewaar, where he wears a blue shirt, smokes a cigarette, and rests his hands on his head.

Shahid, however, brings his own intensity to the scene. He is shown smoking a cigarette, dressed in a white shirt, and showcasing his bulked-up physique. His bald look and a locket around his neck add to his rugged appearance.
Shahid's overall look is further accentuated by stylish red eyeglasses. The post was captioned "Lock n' Load" and featured the background track Marji Cha Maalik, enhancing the dramatic effect of the visuals.
Despite the positive response to the poster, there is skepticism surrounding the film because remakes have been flopping badly at the box office, as seen with Baby John.
There's a fear that Deva could also be a disappointment at the box office. Shahid's last film Jersey was also a flop, which was another remake.
However, his Kabir Singh, a remake of Arjun Reddy, was a blockbuster, but that success came before the OTT era.
However, unlike Baby John, the director here is much more skilled, Shahid Kapoor is a much more talented actor than Varun Dhawan, and overall, the film seems to be made with a lot of conviction and hard work.
So, hopefully, Deva won't suffer the same fate as Baby John.
