Chief Minister Revanth Reddy addressed the media on Friday and said all the progress Hyderabad enjoys today is due to the Congress government's work between 2004 and 2014. He credited Congress for building the Outer Ring Road, Metro Rail, and Shamshabad airport.
Reddy said that from 2014, when BJP ruled the Centre and BRS led Telangana, the state saw no real growth. Telangana started with a Rs 16,000 crore surplus but now has a debt of Rs 8 lakh crore. He added that the UPA had sanctioned the ITIR project, but it was stalled, stopping Hyderabad's growth.
The CM criticised BRS for spending public money on projects like the Secretariat, Command Control Centre, Pragathi Bhavan, and Kaleswaram that, he said, failed to benefit people. He accused KCR of rebuilding the Secretariat for political reasons and called Kaleswaram a collapsed project within three years.
Reddy also blamed BRS for delaying the Metro's Old City expansion and said losses to L&T were because of their inaction. He announced that Telangana is working on a 2047 Vision Document and that the government has submitted a Rs 43 crore Metro project proposal to the Centre.
He compared past Congress leaders Sasidhar Reddy and Janardhan Reddy, known as "Hyderabad Brothers," with Kishan Reddy and KTR, whom he called "Bad Brothers" for blocking city development. Reddy said they opposed Metro expansion, Musi rejuvenation, the regional ring road, and new corridor projects.
The CM shared that the Congress government secured Rs 5000 crore for elevated corridors from Cantonment to Shamirpet and Medchal and approvals for Adilabad and Warangal airports. He said efforts are on for airports in Kothagudem and Ramagundam, with projects vital for North Telangana's progress.
He added that the first six months of Congress's term went into Lok Sabha elections, but once work began, the state attracted Rs 3,00,000 crore in investments. He accused BRS of occupying 44 lakes and politicising the Congress plan to restore them, while other states rejuvenated rivers and built new cities.
Reddy urged voters to support Congress for Hyderabad's growth, promising fair compensation and new homes for poor families affected by development. He called for unity in building a modern Hyderabad, saying Congress alone will ensure steady progress.
As campaigning nears its end, the CM's remarks came as a sharp response to BRS attacks on the ruling Congress.
