Ahead of the film's release, if we look at the advance bookings, they have been pathetic to say the least.
The film reportedly has under Rs 1 crore bookings in the Hyderabad city belt which is a negligible number for a superstar like Rajini.

A similar, if not even poorer trend is being observed all across the Telugu states, say reports. It is confirmed that the film will open on a very poor note at the box office.
While the lack of effort to bring the film closer to the Telugu audience with a relevant title is on one side, the Telugu marketing has been non-existent to say the least.
Vettaiyan 100 Crore: Rajini No Match To Vijay?
A poorly executed trailer, lack of follow-up material and the overall lack of effort to appease the Telugu audience have resulted in the film going absolutely nowhere at the Tollywood box office.
Vettaiyan could be a case study of how not to market a superstar film in Telugu, as such has been the lethargic campaign associated with the film. The team didn't even have the courtesy of giving a relevant Telugu title to the film.
