Bollywood has been having a horrendous time at the box office with not many films being able to get off to positive starts. But for a change, Hindi cinema has finally landed a banger now in the form of Chhaava.
This Vicky Kaushal film was always projected to be a strong performer in the Maharashtra region and the same is getting highlighted now with its superb start at the box office.
Iconic Show as Film: Another Cash Grab Disaster?
The film collected ₹44 crore nett on Sunday, which takes the grand total over the weekend to mighty impressive Rs 106 crore nett. This is a pretty positive start for the film at the Indian box office.
However, one key point that must be noted, here is that the majority of the collections for the film are coming from the Maharashtra circuit and particularly from the Mumbai urban belt. This is largely due to the fact that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj sentiment is particularly prevalent in the Mumbai and Maharashtra circuit.
Chhaava Pressure: Will RS Deliver with Dhurandhar?
The contribution from other North Indian states has been decent as well, but not quite as strong as Maharashtra.
Adding to that, the film opened to largely positive reviews, which is helping it at the box office. It has collected an impressive ₹100 crore nett in the opening weekend and this is no mean feat.
Chhaava Success: Ranbir's Stardom in Danger?
The booking trend in Hyderabad has also been fairly decent. Though the masses are not necessarily lapping up the film, it is getting decent attraction in the Multiplex, where the A center audience hold the key.
The film might look to complete Rs 150 crore nett by the second weekend, as the Monday bookings are pretty decent as well.
