Congress To Win After 16 Years? Jubilee Hills

The

Congress last won the Jubilee Hills seat in 2009 when late P Janardhan Reddy's son, P Vishnuvardhan Reddy, emerged victorious. Since then, the party has failed to reclaim the seat. In the last elections, Mohammad Azharuddin contested but lost to late Maganti Gopinath.

After 16 years, the Congress appears poised for a comeback. The by-election, held due to the demise of Maganti Gopinath, was crucial for the party's morale, especially after its underwhelming performance in Greater Hyderabad during the 2023 Assembly elections.

Although the Congress managed to win the Cantonment seat, it narrowly lost the Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency and also faced defeats in Malkajgiri and Chevella. Winning Jubilee Hills now holds symbolic and strategic importance for the party.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and state in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan personally oversaw the campaign. Ministers were appointed as in-charges for various divisions, while MPs, MLAs, MLCs, corporation chairpersons, and senior leaders led intensive canvassing efforts across the constituency.

TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud coordinated the campaign through regular surveys and feedback sessions. Welfare schemes and developmental projects initiated by the Congress government were also highlighted during the campaign.

With a 48.47% voter turnout and most exit polls predicting a Congress victory, the party is optimistic that a win here could strengthen its standing ahead of the upcoming local body elections.
