Every actor from the film industry tries to release a film on Christmas so that it can accumulate the maximum number of profits. But it seems like Bollywood is going through a tough phase in this situation.
On the other hand, the other languages have managed to leave an impression, including Hollywood. The latest example is Mufasa: The Lion King, which has recorded some good numbers despite getting mixed responses from critics.
Top Villains 2024: Serial Killers to Black Magic
Around six years ago, Shah Rukh Khan's Zero turned out to be a big disappointment despite having a lot of hype. But at the same time, Rocking Star Yash's K.G.F. Chapter 1 was a big blockbuster, with the Hindi version also getting a positive response in certain places in North India.
Following the COVID-19 pandemic, there was uncertainty about audiences turning up at the theatres to watch any film. But Pushpa: The Rise proved everyone wrong by creating records even with 50% occupancy.
Alia Bhatt Spoils Every Director
A day before Allu Arjun's film arrived on the big screen, Spider-Man: No Way Home was also able to pull a large number of audiences despite high ticket prices.
Then there was James Cameron's Avatar: The Way of Water in 2022, which broke various records in India, with an opening day collection of almost Rs. 50 crores.
90% Disasters: Baby John Another Wakeup Call
Last year, there was a big clash between Dunki and Salaar, where the latter became a blockbuster. Although Dunki's closing numbers were reported to be more than Rs. 400 crores, it was still not up to the mark considering the expectations set by SRK's collaboration with Rajkumar Hirani.
Bollywood is still making some efforts to get back to its old position at Christmas. Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par is scheduled to arrive at the same time next year. However, the success will depend on whether the makers have managed to bring a strong story and screenplay.
Although Baby John was released this Christmas, it is facing heavy competition from Pushpa 2: The Rule. Other films are also there in the form of obstacles, including UI, Viduthalai Part 2, Marco, and Max.
For now, it can be said that Bollywood might have to wait for some time to make a comeback in Christmas or they have to change their way of making films.
