The Drishyam franchise changed Indian cinema by introducing a new kind of storytelling, the family crime thriller. After two highly successful films, fans across India have been waiting eagerly for Drishyam 3. Now, a major update has created excitement and pressure at the same time.
Director Jeethu Joseph has reportedly completed Mohanlal's talkie portions for the Malayalam version much faster than expected. This sudden progress has now put the Hindi and Telugu remake teams under pressure.
Ajay Devgn has been waiting for the Hindi remake to move forward. However, Jeethu Joseph has not yet shared the complete script or given approval to start shooting. Because of this long wait, Ajay's team reportedly prepared another backup script. There are also reports that they cannot officially use the title Drishyam 3 until rights clearance is complete.
The Telugu version starring Venkatesh is also stuck. Venkatesh had initially planned to shoot the film earlier, but the schedule shifted. He has already given dates for Chiranjeevi's Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu until December and is expected to begin Trivikram's film soon after. Shooting Drishyam 3 in between other films may create continuity problems, so the Telugu remake remains on hold as of now.
With these delays, it is now almost confirmed that the Malayalam version will release first. Industry reports also claim that its OTT rights have already been sold for around Rs. 130 crores. If true, the film could be streaming within 30 to 45 days of release. Once it goes online, spoilers will spread fast and this may make it harder for the Hindi and Telugu versions to maintain suspense.
Now the biggest question remains. Will Ajay Devgn and Venkatesh speed up production before the original Malayalam version reaches audiences worldwide, or will viewers experience the story first through Mohanlal's version?
For now, fans can only wait and watch how the race unfolds.
