Taapsee accused the male actors of influencing the casting of female leads to suit their own personal agendas in almost 75% of cases.

She said that unless the director has a cult following of their own, it is the male actors who decide which female lead to cast so that it does not overshadow them in the film.

She further stated that this kind of bias extends well beyond casting, as male leads often decide what brand endorsement will feature their female co-stars. She said that while it frustrated her initially, she has learnt to live with it.
