Two of the three Telugu films releasing for the massive Sankranti season are already out.
The first is Ram Charan's pan-India movie Game Changer, and the second is Nandamuri Balakrishna's Daaku Maharaaj.
Shankar's Unreal Downfall: Rajamouli to Sundar C
As of Sunday, around 7 p.m. EST, Game Changer collected $93K, while Daaku Maharaaj brought in $251K.
This clearly indicates a significant drop for Game Changer, which is likely to face a tough time starting tomorrow as the new week begins. With a break-even target of $4.5 million, Game Changer has managed only $1.7 million so far.
No Doubt, Venkatesh Made A Mistake
On the other hand, despite Sunday being a relatively slow market in the U.S., Daaku Maharaaj is showing a strong interest from audiences. Its Sunday collection, trending towards $300-350K, suggests it will maintain steady momentum into the next week.
The third Sankranti release, Sankranthiki Vasthunam is set to premiere tomorrow, Monday, starting at 2:30 p.m. EST (1 a.m. IST). Once Venkatesh Anil Ravipudii's Sankranthiki Vasthunam is out, all three major Sankranti releases will be running in theaters.
