Another day, another scam comes into light. This time, it involves ex AGP of YSRCP government Ponnavolu Sudhakar Reddy and his son Karthik Reddy.

Though there were thousands of applications pending for lease of mines with YSRCP government, the mining department turned a blind eye towards all of them.

KTR Says He Would Die Rather Than Give In

Karthik Reddy had his eyes on Srikakulam granite quarry and it has now emerged that he had been given special treatment by moving his file at rather fast pace.

Karthik Reddy had requested for lease of 4.920 hectares of colour granite (Srikakulam blue) in Survey No 1 in Sontinuru, Nandigam mandal. The request was made on April 30, 2021, to Tekkali mine department AD.

The file moved through the hierarchy and a lease of 20 years was accorded to Karthik Reddy. The lease was given for 2.963 hectares of land within a few months.

After his file passed through various departments, Karthik Reddy was given a mining plan by October 12 in 2021. Clearances were got from the forest department, Vizag Pollution Control Board (PCB) and the lease was given on March 30, 2022. This means the entire process was wrapped up in mere 11 months.

It has also surfaced that the YSRCP government did not bother about the e-auction it announced in 2019. There were 6000 applications, but the government did not bother to address them.

In Tekkali alone, there were 600 apications. Around 200 applications who had all clearances after primary approval in 2019 were kept pending.

The YSRCP big heads gave clearances to the likes of Ponnavolu Karthik Reddy and others in their favour by setting aside e-auction and adhering to old rules.
