The film industry is a great leveller when it comes to success and failure. The changing trends, when it comes to audience, viewing patterns has made it clear that the previous body of work of any actor is accounting to very little.
It is the content of this particular film that matters.
Tamil hero Pradeep Ranganathan could perhaps be shown as a perfect example of this scenario as he had a humbling Friday today after scoring hattrick of blockbusters.
In the recent past, Pradeep is one of the true star material when it comes to outsiders category. Without having a mainstream film background, he eventually became a hero and delivered three films in the 100 crore bracket.
A naturally great things would be expected from his fourth film after this super positive run. But that did not replicate in this case, as his latest film, LIK could not generate any momentum before the release.
The film opened in theatres today and the reviews have been fairly mixed. But more concerning for Pradeep momentum or discussion happening on this film before the release. This is a strange scenario for a Hero who had delivered a hattrick of blockbusters where his fourth film is getting not much attention.
When social media users are citing the word humble here, it doesn't mean Pradeep had crossed the line and spoken adversely after gaining success or something. It is just that he got a significant reprimand from the audience that he needs to be on the top of his game with every film and mediocre staff will simply not work.
This is perhaps a good lesson for hero like Pradeep, who has enough potential in him to come up with winning films consistently. The natural expectation is that he must bounce back from the situation and get things back on track.
