Hyderabad will be venue for the prestigious Miss World beauty pageant this year. The pageant will be held between May 4 and May 31. Apart from the grand finale, the opening and ending ceremonies will be held in Hyderabad.
A series of events will be held in other places in the state, shared the organizers. Aspirants from 140 countries will take part in the pageant.

In the past, Miss World pageant was held in 1996 and 2024 in India. In 2024, it was held in Mumbai. This year there was tough competition with Dubai, but Hyderabad got the chance.
The city's historic past and the beauty of villages in the state coupled with Hyderabad being a world-class city helped in bagging the grand event.

Hyderabad has good infrastructure, one of the best airports Shamshabad airport, pleasant weather, apart from being an education and pharma hub. All these factors gave Hyderabad the opportunity, said Miss World Chairman, CEO Julia Morli and tourism & culture principal secretary Smita Sabharwal.
Smita Sabharwal further said that it took great efforts to bring the pageant. She went to say that the tourism in the interiors of the state would come into focus due to the pageant. Smita said there is a possibility of some events centering around Telangana culture and art.
