Hyderabad Commissioner of Police
Producer Dil Raju, film-maker Rajamouli, Nagarjuna and Chiranjeevi discussed the growing problem of piracy with Sajjanar.
Just days earlier, iBomma admin Immadi Ravi was arrested in Hyderabad. The film industry met with Sajjanar to address the issue. Speaking to the media, Sajjanar said that TFI lost huge amounts due to piracy. He said the arrest of Immadi Ravi is part of efforts to control it.
Four cases have been filed against Ravi under the Copyright Act and the IT Act. Sajjanar recalled earlier arrests of Prashant and Sivaraj in piracy cases. He said Ravi caused major damage to the industry through piracy and betting apps.
Sajjanar revealed that many people died because of betting apps linked to these networks. Even when authorities blocked the sites, Ravi created new betting apps. He also set up 65 mirror sites to continue operations.
Ravi stored 21000 movies on his hard disk. These included films from Godfather released in 1972 to recent releases like OG. He earned Rs 20 crore through piracy, of which Rs 3 crore has been seized.
Sajjanar said Ravi had data of 50 lakh subscribers, which he described as dangerous. This data can be misused by cyber criminals for illegal activities, he said.
