Madhavilatha pulled down the flexis of an Iftar party to be attended by the likes of Asaduddin Owaisi. Well, the flexis were put up in front of Madhavilatha's family-owned Virinchi hospital.

Naturally, this has led to furore among the religious group that is now celebrating the Ramzan month. Madhavilatha now claims that she tore down the flexis as iftar is meant to be celebrated by giving food to the poor. She said iftars are not meant for rich people's get togethers.

However, the damage appears to have been done. The chowrasta facing Virinchi hospital is a distinct space where different roads connecting the old city pass through.

It was a convenient point for the flexis as Asaduddin Owaisi is the MP of Hyderabad. Now, Madhavilatha's argument is right. But purposefully tearing down flexis during the religious month has drawn the ire of a particular community.

Madhavilatha should have shown restraint say BJP insiders. If she is concerned about the poor, she can hold iftars and annadanams, they say. In all, there is common consensus that her tearing down the flexis was just another act of publicity. She has to respect and keep the ganga-jamuna tehzeeb of Hyderabad in mind, say political observers.
