For some time now, social media has been buzzing with claims that Peddi, which has been officially announced for a March 27 release, will definitely be postponed.
This speculation has made Mega fans anxious, especially because the film is expected to arrive close to Ram Charan's birthday and is seen as a potential blockbuster film for him.
Some social media users have even gone a step further by floating May 1 as a new release date. However, according to reliable sources, director Buchi Babu Sana has no such plan at present. He reportedly has enough planning in place to release the film on the originally announced date. That said, the unit is internally discussing a few external factors, which is normal at this stage.
The biggest discussion point revolves around the possible impact of films releasing a week earlier on March 19, Dhurandhar 2 and Toxic. Both films have huge buzz in the North, especially Dhurandhar 2, and major distributors have already begun blocking theatres. This could turn into a screen allocation headache for Peddi in those belts.
Distributor Anil Thadani, who handled Pushpa 2, shares a strong bond with the team. However, since Toxic is also expected to go through the same distribution channel, screen sharing may become complicated. Matching the hype and demand of Dhurandhar 2 is also not an easy task.
Despite these discussions, there has been no official change of mind regarding Peddi's release. Ram Charan remains keen on wrapping it up quickly. On the other side, Ram Charan is all set to work with Sukumar next, whose script work is nearing completion. Sukumar is keen to commit to Pushpa 3 and a pan India project with Prabhas, which means he has only one year for RC17. So Ram Charan wants to get done with Peddi as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, Peddi has reached the final stages of shooting, and the first half editing is already complete. Only after being fully satisfied with the first half did Buchi Babu begin work on the second half edit.
Buchi Babu's previous film Uppena was a massive success, and being a Sukumar protégé has further strengthened confidence among fans. The makers believe Rahman's music will turn theatres into stadiums, and the sensational success of the Chikiri Chikiri song strongly supports that belief.
Recently, Buchi Babu reportedly sent the edited first half to Rahman, who is expected to begin work on the background score. Although Rahman is known for taking time, the team believes that early preparation will ensure quality output before release. Once the second half edit is finalized, Rahman may begin scoring that portion as well.
Overall, the film remains firmly on track as of now, despite ongoing speculation.
