Jana Sena has announced that it is ready for the upcoming GHMC elections in Hyderabad. The party's Hyderabad wing made the statement after internal discussions, signalling a new push into Telangana politics.
Greater Hyderabad president Ramalingam held a meeting with party leaders and workers in KPHB. He confirmed that Jana Sena, which is primarily active in Andhra Pradesh, will prepare strongly for the polls. Leaders said the focus will be on building a solid base in the city.
Jana Sena leader Nemuri Sankar Goud stressed the need to strengthen party structures in Hyderabad. He highlighted the importance of mobilising workers across key divisions of the city. The party believes this will help expand its urban reach.
Jana Sena earlier supported the BJP during the Jubilee Hills bypoll. With Pawan Kalyan enjoying a huge fan base in the Nizam market, the party aims to appeal to urban voters by entering the GHMC battle. The leadership hopes this move will boost its visibility.
The party has not yet clarified whether it will contest alone or form an alliance with the BJP. Either way, the GHMC polls are expected to help Jana Sena gain a foothold in Greater Hyderabad. The party sees this as an opportunity to mark its presence in Telangana.
TDP is also trying to re-enter Telangana politics. How the NDA partners in Andhra Pradesh will approach the GHMC polls remains to be seen. TDP, however, has not announced any formal plan yet.
Hyderabad has a large number of Andhra settlers as well as strong Pawan Kalyan supporters. These factors could help Jana Sena as it makes its debut in Telangana's political arena.
