Jogi Ramesh Arrested In Adulterated Liquor Scam

Mirchi 9 6 months ago

Police arrested YSRCP leader and former minister Jogi Ramesh, his brother Jogi Ramu, and his follower Arepalli Ramu in connection with an adulterated liquor scam. After their arrest, officers took them to the Vijayawada East Excise Office for questioning.

Jogi Ramesh claimed that his arrest was illegal. High tension prevailed near his house in Ibrahimpatnam as supporters gathered in protest. YSRCP leaders accused the government of engaging in vendetta politics and claimed the arrest was meant to distract attention from the Kasibugga Stampede incident.

Police said Addepalli Janardhana Rao, the prime accused in the case, told investigators he produced adulterated liquor under the direction of Jogi Ramesh. Following his statement, police reached Jogi Ramesh's residence early this morning and took him into custody.

Back in September 2021, Jogi Ramesh led a group carrying sticks and stones to attack Chandrababu Naidu's house. He claimed he only went there to submit a petition, but the situation turned violent after TDP cadres retaliated.

For long, TDP supporters had been demanding his arrest over that incident. Now, Jogi Ramesh finds himself in deeper trouble, facing allegations in the adulterated liquor scam.
