Hyderabad is preparing to compete with global cities. The mega GHMC plan is now final. Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, earlier spread across 650 sq km, will expand to 2053 km across the Outer Ring Road.

A gazette confirms this update.

The government will merge 27 municipalities and corporations outside GHMC limits. Mega Hyderabad will now include 300 divisions. To support governance, power will be decentralised. Zones and circles are being doubled for better administration.

The earlier 6 zones are increased to 12. Circles have gone up from 30 to 60. The GHMC expansion process is complete. Officer efforts and citizen complaints have helped shape the final structure. Reliable sources say zonal and circle offices are final. Another gazette will confirm division and office details soon.

Previously, GHMC had 150 divisions and 30 circles. Now it has 300 divisions and 60 circles. Former zones included Serilingampally, Charminar, Kukatpally, LB Nagar, Khairatabad and Secunderabad. New zones include Qutbullapur, Uppal, Malkajgiri, Shamshabad, Golkonda and Rajendranagar.

The Serilingampally zone has changed completely. Miyapur, Serilingampally and Patancheru are in one circle. Ameenpur and Narsingi are added. Tukkuguda opposed being added to Charminar zone. It has now been moved to Shamshabad based on local preference.

The old city is now three zones: Golkonda, Charminar and Rajendranagar. All old city areas will be under them. Qutbullapur has 7 circles, the highest. Rajendranagar has 6. Serilingampally, Khairatabad, Golkonda, Secunderabad, Uppal, Malkajgiri and Charminar have 5 each. Kukatpally, LB Nagar and Shamshabad have 4 circles.
