The makers of Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown Ups, the upcoming action drama starring Yash, have unveiled the first look of lead actress Nayanthara, who plays a character named Ganga.
The reveal has sparked mixed reactions across social media platforms.
The poster presents Nayanthara in a fierce and commanding avatar, standing at the entrance of a lavish casino with a gun in hand. Her confident stance and intense expression suggest a character layered with danger and authority.
While several fans appreciated the makers for capturing her elegance and lethal composure, others criticised the poster for lacking impact. Many felt that the first look failed to generate strong buzz or excitement around the film.
Similar reactions were seen earlier for the first-look posters of Kiara Advani and Huma Qureshi, leading to concerns that the promotional material has not connected well with Hindi-speaking audiences so far.
Trade analysts note that Toxic faces added pressure due to its direct clash with Dhurandhar 2, directed by Aditya Dhar, scheduled for release on March 19, 2026. Industry watchers believe stronger promotional content will be crucial for Toxic to compete effectively.
Director Geetu Mohandas has, however, expressed confidence in the film. She stated that Nayanthara will be seen in a completely new light, adding that the actress's depth, restraint and emotional clarity elevated the character and the overall narrative.
Despite the muted response to the first-look posters, expectations remain that the film could surprise audiences after release. Still, the challenge lies in drawing crowds to theatres amid stiff competition and high expectations.
