The request of Telangana government to nationalise the Ethipotala Project in Palamuru Rangareddy district has hit a roadblock. The Centre has responded in negative to Telangana government's request.

The Central government stated that since the dispute over sharing of Krishna waters is in the Supreme Court, it cannot take a decision on it.

The Jalshakti department officials said that Krishna Tribunal 2 is handling the issue. The Jalshakti department made it clear that it cannot take the techno-economic report of the project into consideration.

Given this background, the proposals by the Telangana government have been sent back, the Center said in Lok Sabha. The Center reminded the proposal was sent in September 2022 and that Center returned it in December 2024.
