While this is good news, the Detailed project report (DPR) hasn't been approved as yet and this has left the people in a lurch once again.

The central government announced the Zone in 2019. It also came up with a DPR in the same year. However, there has been no progress ever since.
The DPR is vital as it defines how the Zone would be. Still, such a crucial Report hasn't been approved by the Railway Board.

Questions are now being raised with regards to inclusion of Waltair zone. It has to be noted that the Waltair Zone has a history of 100 years.
The Waltair zone has been combined with Vijayawada zone. The Railway Board decided on the lines and routes. The locals want this arrangement to continue, which is forcing the Railways to rethink its decision.
For now, Waltair has been part of Rayagada zone in Odisha. New lines have announced in the zone. Due to this, much of the revenue generating area of Waltair went to Rayagada.
With Modi's trip lined up, the issue has become debatable once again.
