Netflix has recently released a new documentary named 'Sweet Bobby: My Catfish Nightmare'. The documentary highlights the story of Kirat Assi, a radio presenter from London, who became the victim of a very elaborate scam.

It reveals a harrowing case of catfishing, where Kirat was led to believe she was in a deep relationship with someone named 'Bobby', even though never meeting the person for over a decade!

The relationship never progressed from virtual to reality, as 'Bobby' would often provide dramatic excuses such as being in witness protection, or getting into a terrible accident to avoid meeting Kirat.

The documentary takes a dark turn at the end when it is revealed that 'Bobby' is none other than Simran, Kirat's cousin who had been manipulating her through an intricate web of lies for over ten years!

Kirat Assi pursued and won a civil action against Simran, but was unable to file any criminal charges due to ambiguity in the law.
