Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan has moved the Delhi High Court seeking protection of his personality rights. He complained that various social media entities and e commerce platforms were using elements of his persona for commercial benefit without permission.
The Delhi High Court directed Pawan Kalyan to submit all infringing links to the intermediaries within two days. The Court added that intermediaries must act within a week and communicate with him if they have any concerns.
His lawyer stated that actor Ajay Devgn faced a similar issue earlier. He said Ajay Devgn did not receive a proper response from intermediaries and many infringing materials still remain online.
The lawyer also said that the Deputy CM is concerned about AI generated videos circulating on Google. He added that impersonation and fake association content are also appearing on Meta and e commerce platforms.
The Court said Pawan Kalyan must submit the URLs and intermediaries will take action within a week. In Ajay Devgn's case, the Court had asked him to approach the intermediaries first before moving the Court.
The Court directed intermediaries to treat Pawan Kalyan's plea as a complaint under the Indormation and Technology (Intermediaries Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021. They were asked to take action within seven days.
The Delhi High Court will hear the case again on December 22.
