Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said that effective drought management must begin with proper utilisation of water resources.

He stressed the need to increase groundwater availability and aims to raise the state's groundwater to 700 TMC through coordinated efforts.

Chandrababu highlighted that he had brought 439 TMC of water to the Krishna delta over a 10-year period. He confirmed that the Polavaram diaphragm wall, which was earlier damaged, will be completed by December 25, 2025.

He added that bringing water to Kuppam and conducting Jala Yagnam was a major achievement in his life. Polavaram diaphragm wall was washed away during the term of past government. His government has now spent Rs 1,000 crore on rebuilding it.

Naidu also noted that water can be supplied up to Vamsadhara through the Uttarandhra Sujala Sravanti. With 75% of the Rs 975 crore project already completed, water will reach Anakapalli by October. Additionally, Rs 1,425 crore has been spent to connect it with the Polavaram right canal.

The CM said water from Srisailam reservoir has been routed from Malyala to Kuppam through the Handri-Neeva project. Around Rs 13,000 crore has been spent so far, and 40 TMC of water is being sent. Six reservoirs have been built along this route.

He also mentioned the repair of 33 gates on the Tungabhadra dam and confirmed that Rs 204 crore has been sanctioned for the Srisailam spillway, which will be completed soon. Work on the Somasila project will also be finished by the end of the season.
