Telugu TV anchor and Bigg Boss Telugu fame Vishnupriya Bhimeneni has landed in controversy after a complaint was filed against her over the kind of content she shares on social media.
What began as online criticism has now turned into a police matter.
Members of the All-India Students Federation approached the Vijayawada Cyber Crime Police and submitted a complaint. They alleged that Vishnupriya has been regularly posting objectionable and semi-nude photos and videos on Instagram. According to them, such content can negatively influence young audiences and sends the wrong message, especially because she is a well-known public figure.
The complaint also claimed that she is earning money through this content by charging around ₹399 per month for access to exclusive posts. This means some users are paying to view her bold content. AISF leaders said this raises both legal and ethical concerns and asked the police to take strict action, including blocking her account.
After the complaint, police have reportedly registered a case and started an investigation. Officials will now review her content to check whether it violates any cyber laws or rules related to public decency.
Vishnupriya became popular after her appearance on Bigg Boss Telugu, and her fan following has grown steadily since then. However, her social media posts have often created debate. Now that the issue has reached the police, it has become more serious. Many are waiting to see how she responds and what action authorities will take.
At the same time, this issue brings up a bigger discussion. On one hand, people are questioning the kind of content she is posting. On the other hand, there is a clear argument that if what she is doing is legal, then she has the full right to do it.
If her content does not break any rules-like obscenity laws or platform guidelines-then she is not doing anything illegal. Social media platforms themselves provide features like subscriptions and monetization, which means they allow creators to earn money from their content. So if she is using those features within the rules, it becomes her personal choice.
Also, many believe that what a person chooses to do with their own body is entirely up to them. If someone wants to present themselves in a bold way and earn from it legally, they have the right to make that decision.
It's true that celebrities have influence, especially over younger audiences. Because of that, they feel public figures should be more careful about what they share. But this is more of a moral or social expectation, not always a legal one.
Instead of blaming the creator, people should decide what they want to watch, follow, or pay for. If someone doesn't like such content, they can simply avoid it. In that sense, the control is also in the hands of viewers, not just creators.
It also raises a practical point-she is earning legally and paying taxes on that income, which means the system itself recognizes it as valid work.
Socially, people will still debate whether it is right or wrong. However, many feel most likely this controversy will only help her gain more subscriptions.
