Blockbuster film Pushpa 2 is still going strong at the theatres even after 2 weeks of its release.

So fans found it suspicious when the film was removed from all PVR INOX chains in North India starting today.

What led makers to take such a big step for the movie which was anticipating another massive weekend run?

One reason could be the deadlock between the distributors of Pushpa 2 and Baby John, which is set to release on 25th December.

The distributors for both films want to take advantage of the holiday and capitalize on it. Anil Thadani, the distributor of Pushpa 2 instructed the theatres to play equal shows for both films, which will be unfair for the new release.

Pushpa 2 has a very high chance of overshadowing Varun Dhawan's Baby John if the number of shows isn't amped down.

Another reason for the theatres to pull the film from the halls could be its quick OTT release.

Rumours suggest that Pushpa 2 is going to be released in the second week of January, which is less than a month away. The theatre owners agreed to run the film only on the condition that the film would be released on OTT 8 weeks after it runs in the halls.

The distributors for Pushpa 2 might not be able to keep their end of the promise, resulting in such measures taken by the theatre chain.

At the pace Pushpa 2 was doing at the theatres, fans estimated the film to earn Rs 750 to Rs 800 Crores in Hindi. But with this drastic step, the film might end up somewhere around Rs 700 Crores.

Despite its future, the film has made its statement by being the highest-grossing movie in Hindi.
