The election flying squad conducted surprise raids at the residences of BRS leaders in Hyderabad on Friday. The raids took place at the house of former MLA Marri Janardhan Reddy and MLC Ravinder Rao in Rahmat Nagar.
According to officials, the action followed a complaint alleging that large sums of cash were being stored for the upcoming Jubilee Hills bypoll. Both state and central officers participated in the operation.

However, Marri Janardhan Reddy strongly denied the allegations. He claimed that the police brought bags into his residence and expressed frustration that he was not allowed to enter his own home during the raid.
Reddy alleged that the raids were politically motivated and being conducted in areas where the election code of conduct was not in effect. He further accused the Telangana government of using such tactics out of fear of losing the election.
Officials stated that raids before elections are routine to prevent illegal distribution of money and ensure fair polling. Canvassing for the Jubilee Hills bypoll will conclude in two days.
