Three major South Indian films are set to release this week, but fans are facing delays in advance ticket bookings. Moviegoers have taken to social media to express frustration as booking windows remain partially closed across several regions.
The films scheduled for release during the Pongal and Sankranti season are The Raja Saab, Jana Nayagan, and Parasakthi. All three projects have generated strong buzz ahead of the festive weekend.
Audiences have reported difficulties in booking tickets, especially for Hindi dubbed versions in markets like Tamil Nadu. In many centres, advance booking counters have not fully opened, leading to confusion among fans and exhibitors alike.
The delay is largely attributed to pending censor approvals from the Central Board of Film Certification. Trade sources say the certification process is still underway for all three releases.
Industry analysts claim that Jana Nayagan and Parasakthi contain strong political themes, which may have contributed to the delay. Jana Nayagan focuses on leadership and society, while Parasakthi is based on the 1965 anti Hindi agitations in Tamil Nadu.
Reports suggest the CBFC considers these themes sensitive and has sought minor dialogue changes in Jana Nayagan. These factors are believed to have slowed down the certification process ahead of release.
While the reasons behind the delay for Jana Nayagan and Parasakthi are clearer, the status of The Raja Saab remains uncertain. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh stated that the Hindi version has limited buzz but ruled out any postponement.
Despite certification delays, The Raja Saab is still slated to release on January 9, 2026. Trade experts believe promotions may pick up pace closer to release, helping the film reach a wider audience.
As of now, none of the three films have received final certification. This has sparked debate online, with some users questioning whether South Indian films are being unfairly delayed compared to Hindi releases.
