Ramayana Part 1 may arrive in theatres a few days earlier than planned. The Ranbir Kapoor starrer was scheduled for November 8, which falls on Diwali, but fresh buzz suggests the makers are considering November 5 or 6 instead.
The thinking behind the reported move is straightforward. Releasing on Diwali itself could mean a section of the audience is busy with festival celebrations, family gatherings and travel, potentially affecting the initial rush to theatres. By coming a few days earlier, Ramayana could get a head start and build momentum before the actual festival day arrives.
For a film mounted on this scale, those opening days matter. The makers are reportedly looking at the possibility of using the pre-Diwali period to establish the film before audiences get completely caught up in the festival.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the two-part epic stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. The film is already carrying huge expectations, and even a change in its release strategy has become a talking point.
The November 5 or 6 release is not official yet. The makers are expected to clarify the final plan soon.
