AP CM Chandra Babu has announced 7 new airports in the state. He met up with state civil aviation minister Rammohan Naidu and Airports Authority officials at his home in Undavalli and later spoke to media.
He said the feasibility survey for Srikakulam airport was complete and added that the airport will come up in 1383 acres. It will be completed in two phases while the land acquisition at Dugadarthi was under way. During the past TDP government's term, it was estimated that 1379 acres was required for Dugadarthi airport.

Towards this end, the then government had acquired 635 acres and work is on to acquire the remaining 657 acres identified by this government. BPCL oil refinery will be coming up in the area, Babu informed during the interaction. 657 acres have been identified for Ongole airport which is under study.
The government decided to allocate 1657 acres at Nagarjuna Sagar, 1123 acres at Tadepalligudem and 757 acres at Tuni-Annavaram, the CM revealed. He said his government was also considering airstrip for Sricity.

He further disclosed that various industries would come up in Anakapalli and a steel plant will be coming up in Nakkapalli.
Chandrababu also told media that efforts were underway to set up an aviation university, training centre in the state. Since air travel is likely to increase exponentially, the new airports will be designed to meet future needs, he said.

In his home turf Kuppam, the airport will be constructed in two phases following a feasibility survey. IAF, HCL, Bangalore International Airport fall under the vicinity of the identified land, hence the CM ordered the officials to acquire a NOC to start works.
