Charith Balappa, a popular Kannada television actor, was recently arrested following serious sexual abuse allegations by a 29-year-old actress from the same industry.

The actress filed an FIR accusing Balappa of subjecting her to sexual harassment, assault, threats, and criminal intimidation over a period of nearly a year, from November 2023 to December 2024.

According to the complaint, the two actors had known each other since 2017, and Balappa exploited her good nature. He reportedly pressured her into a romantic relationship and demanded physical intimacy, which she refused.

When she rejected his advances, he allegedly threatened to damage her reputation. Balappa is also accused of barging into her house with associates, causing a disturbance and further harassing her.

Additionally, the actress claims that Balappa demanded money from her and threatened to leak her private photos on social media, even saying he would send them to a WhatsApp group with other actors.

He also used his supposed influence, citing connections with politicians and rowdy elements, to intimidate her and claimed he could have her arrested with false charges. He allegedly also threatened her life, causing significant mental distress.

A statement from DCP (West) S Girish confirmed that Balappa harassed the actress mentally, threatened her with death, and pressured her into a romantic relationship.

The FIR was filed under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including threats to life and harassment, and Balappa has been arrested.
