Long before Shah Rukh Khan's iconic Mumbai residence, Mannat, became a cultural landmark, the superstar was once shooed away by its guards!

Choreographer Ahmed Khan recently revealed an interesting story from the late 1990s during the filming of Chand Taare from Yes Boss.

In a recent interview, Ahmed recalled that a portion of the song was shot outside the bungalow, which was not called Mannat back then.

During the shoot, when SRK jumped onto a moving car, the mansion's guards asked them to leave the premises.

In his signature witty style, SRK joked that he should buy it, and then they can shoot in peace.

"Who Would Watch That Akshay Kumar Film?"

What started as a playful remark soon turned into reality when SRK purchased the property in 2001 for Rs 13.01 crore.

Over the years, Mannat has become a symbol of SRK's stardom, attracting thousands of fans who gather outside on special occasions.

Originally an ordinary sea-facing bungalow, the property is now valued at Rs 200 crore (as of December 2024).

Interestingly, during the launch of Gauri Khan's book, My Life in Design, SRK shared that they couldn't afford an interior designer after buying the bungalow.

He revealed that they did not have much money and the house needed rebuilding, so they designed it themselves.

Now, Mannat is set for a major renovation, with the Khan family temporarily shifting to a Bandra apartment for two years.
