When Nara Lokesh took over the Portfolio of Education, everyone was skeptical because it is the department where showing improvement is very difficult.

But Lokesh is doing that effortlessly. He seems to have started with simple things and had lined up some very interesting reforms in school education.

Better Idea Than Collecting Toll On Roads!

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Lokesh attended the Parents - Teacher meeting in a Government School in Bapatla.

Speaking at the event, Lokesh said, "We changed the names of the schemes of school children. School Kits are named after Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and Mid-day meals are named after Dokka Seethamma. Books we give next year will not have party colors and photos of the leaders".

He also said the Government will bring the 'Andhra Model of School Education' which inculcates Ethics in children.

"We casually use words like గాజులు తొడుక్కునావా… అమ్మాయిలా ఏడుస్తున్నావు. That should change. It is important to develop the right ethics in the school children. Our curriculum will have it," Lokesh said.

Lokesh also revealed the plans for a Ratings System for Government Schools.

"We are giving Report Cards and Health Cards of Students to the Parents. We will have Digital Classrooms in every school going forward. Every School will be rated on a scale considering the teaching standards and the available infrastructure. We will ensure every school gets at least Four Ratings. Parents will have an app to rate the facilities and understand the performance and attendance of their children," the Minister revealed.

Lokesh also said about EAGLE Taskforce to work closely with Schools and Colleges to control the menace of Drugs.
