Supreme Court Directives In Phone Tapping Case: Hyd

The Supreme Court of India has issued fresh directions to the Telangana government over the phone tapping issue. The court questioned when the interrogation of former SIB chief Prabhakar Rao would actually conclude.

The Apex Court noted that it had already granted custody of Prabhakar Rao for two weeks. It also recalled that protection was given to him from May 2025, along with interim relief under Article 142, considering the ongoing probe.

The court further asked why Prabhakar Rao was not being called regularly for questioning. This observation came despite the fact that he has been granted anticipatory bail in the case.

This development is significant as the Congress government in Telangana is facing criticism over the pace of the investigation. Despite strong political statements and heated exchanges between Congress and BRS leaders, there has been little visible progress.

Political analysts say public interest in the case has gradually declined. Repeated references by leaders have failed to revive attention, leaving many Telangana citizens disengaged from the issue.
