It is a tradition that the main political parties do not contest in MLC elections in Teachers Quota and leave those seats to the Teachers' Associations.
Sometimes, the parties support some candidates depending on the local conditions and political needs.

Uttarandhra Teachers MLC election is happening and the polling is on the 27th of this month.
TDP announced support to sitting MLC Pakalapati Raghu Varma. TDP President Palla Srinivasa Rao and MP Bharat announced this the other day.
Varma's Anger - Completely Justified
There are ten candidates in the fray for the Teachers MLC but the contest is mainly between the three candidates. Sitting MLC Raghu Varma is contesting once again.
Gade Srinivasula Naidu who was elected as an MLC twice previously is also in the fray. And there is Koredla Vijaya Gowri.

But then, there is a discussion if supporting Raghu Varma is a good decision for TDP.
Nara Lokesh is the Education Minister. Supporting one candidate in this election means snubbing the other associations.
There is a buzz in Uttarandhra that there is substantial anti-incumbency against Raghu Varma. Supporting him at this juncture is owning the result which is totally unnecessary for TDP.
Also, whoever wins will naturally help the government in the council with all important issues. Hence, supporting a candidate does not bring in any advantage separately.
So TDP entering the ring is totally an unnecessary step.
Interestingly, TDP's partner, BJP is supporting Gade Srinivasula Naidu in this election.
