The police arrested Menni Ranjith, a software engineer and close aid of Batthula Prabhakar, who opened fire on a constable in Gachibowli on Feb 1 at Prism Club.

Prabhakar was arrested on Feb 1 and two country-made weapons were seized from him. After getting reliable information, they arrested Menni Ranjith from TNGOs Colony, Gachibowli, Serilingampally. He happens to be a native of Gopavaram village in West Godavari district.

During investigation, Ranjith confessed his involvement. He revealed he had come to Hyderabad in 2023 for a job and stayed at JNTU, KPHB.

He developed friendship with Prabhakar and shifted to a flat in Vattinagulapally. In 2024, the two traveled to Bihar and illegally got firearms and ammunition from Prabhakar's associates there, said the police.

On Ranjith's confession, the police seized a Skoda car, bike and some documents. Menni Ranjith was produced before the court.
