The new Telangana Thalli Statue is set to be unveiled at the Secretariat today by CM Revanth Reddy. Over the last few days, there has been a debate among people regarding the change in the design of the Telangana Thalli statue.
Earlier, the statue featured Telangana Thalli wearing a grand saree with jewellery, a crown, wheat grains in one hand, and Bathukamma in the other hand. However, the new design features Telangana Thalli in a simpler way, wearing a green saree, holding wheat grains in one hand, and showing "Abhaya Hastam" with the right hand.

A section of people were upset with the removal of jewellery and Bathukamma from the new design, as well as the portrayal of Telangana Thalli in a 'simplistic way.'
Meanwhile, Revanth Reddy explained the reason behind choosing the new design at the assembly today. He said that the new design resembles a mother more than a goddess.

Revanth Reddy said, "There are two aspects: Telangana Goddess and Telangana Mother. When we were thinking about whether to make the design resemble Telangana Thalli as a goddess with jewellery and ornaments or as a mother with a simplistic image and a motherly feel. Many experts and intellectuals said that we need a motherly figure."
"A goddess can be found in temples. A mother will be there at our homes, and we grow up in her lap. Telangana movement ignited from that mother's lap. That's why everyone suggested adopting a motherly design. Thus, we opted for this design, and everyone feels like they are watching their mother when they see this new design," he added.
