Though Marco is ruling Mollywood with his great performances, the impact at the box office failed to be created even when Barroz featured the star power there and also the director.

Day 1 in Kerala earned Barroz a decent Rs 3.55 crore. On Day 6, the film grossed just Rs 9.3 crore. The film will not likely cross Rs 25 crore overseas. Marco has, however crossed Rs 68 crore abroad and is rapidly closing into the Rs 100 crore mark, miles ahead of what Barroz managed.
Marco's success reveals the pattern of more personal films with great storytelling. Marco, in fact, captured the audiences' imagination with its strong storyline and action-packed theme, whereas Barroz relied on great production values, and that is the proof of how content often wins over flashy display.
Maybe it focused too much on the spectacle and lost the battle over the audience's heart for having such beautiful sights. Plot is so realistic and character-driven that Marco proved that even better writing is worth so much more than the expensive special effects and celebrity endorsements.
