Former MP and ex YSRCP leader Vijayasai Reddy has received notices from the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the AP liquor scam.
The notices ask him to appear before the ED on January 22.
Earlier, Vijayasai Reddy had appeared before the SIT and shared what he described as crucial information related to the case. He also addressed the media on two occasions while the investigation was underway.
On April 22, 2025, Vijayasai Reddy posted on X claiming he was the whistle blower in the case. His statement added fresh attention to the ongoing investigation and intensified political discussions around the issue.
The AP liquor scam has remained in the spotlight over allegations of spurious liquor sales during the YSRCP government's term. Reports also allege that nearly Rs 3200 crore was siphoned off by various stakeholders.
The SIT continues to probe the case, and around a dozen accused are currently in jail. While several accused have claimed memory loss regarding deals, Vijayasai Reddy has maintained that the scam did take place and involved multiple YSRCP leaders.
In recent times, Vijayasai Reddy has kept a low profile. Separately, his daughter has faced allegations related to illegal construction on Bheemili Beach, which also drew public attention.
The latest summons have renewed curiosity among Andhra Pradesh citizens. Many are closely tracking the liquor scam's progress. Political observers are now wondering if Vijayasai Reddy may make another sensational disclosure.
